Frequently asked questions
What issues do you treat?
We focus on anxiety, stress, burnout, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, leadership and workplace issues, and eating and body image concerns. We also work with mood disorders more broadly.
Do I need a GP referral?
Not necessarily. If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a referral. However, you can always reach out to me if you are unsure about the process.
What can I expect at my first session?
Your first session is an opportunity to share your story, your concerns, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. Together, we will create a plan tailored to your needs.
How much do you charge?
The current fee for a session is $250.
How long is each session?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate?
Yes, if you have a GP referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan. As of July 1, 2024, the Medicare rebate for a general psychologist is $96.65 per session, meaning this is the amount Medicare will reimburse you for (for up to 10 sessions a year). Claiming a Medicare rebate requires a current Mental Health Treatment Plan.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your needs. Many clients find significant benefit within 6-10 sessions, though some may require more or less.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. There are some exceptions, such as risk of harm to yourself or others, which I will explain in our first session.
